Today is the biggest tease in the NFL universe that isn't the preseason -- the NFL Draft. Today, 32 NFL teams will try to bolster their ranks and hope that their top picks are blue chips and not busts.
The NFL Draft also reminds us that the NHL Draft is creeping ever closer, and that's why we've decided to provide you with some of the mock draft results and some speculation about which prospects could become a part of the Capitals' game plan.
Here are just a few of the mock draft results; granted, they will change by the end of playoffs. Here are the Capitals' selections with the 27th* pick in the draft.
*Note - draft order for seeds 15-30 will change after Stanley Cup *Note Tim Erixson did not have a player profile availible *Another great source for Mock Draft results is the DC Pro Sports Report, which updates these daily and has more than the few we selected.
Keep in mind, should the Capitals be eliminated Sunday, then the Capitals will move up in the draft and these prognostications are pretty much void. But the selections of the players in these mock drafts holds true to the Capitals' needs: a secondary scoring center and more help on the blueline.
Take these with a grain of salt: Some of these guys aren't even first-rounders anymore. Of course, the team mantra through the entire draft process is going to be "best player availible," and that's going to hold true for most teams with draft slots above 15. But let's not kid ourselves: The draft is a great place to address needs or scope out a diamond in the rough.
So throwing away the "best player available" selection, who would you want to see the Capitals draft or, better yet, is there one prospect that has your eye?
