Sounds like Sergei Fedorov has no plans to hang up the skates...
"I cannot imagine myself retired, I don't know why," the 39-year-old veteran said. "I still have got some legs left and I'm still enjoying the game and I'm certainly enjoying this group of young and very talented players. I didn't think about retiring. By saying that, I would like to continue to play. With the young legs around me, it's really helpful."
Fedorov is a UFA this summer and earned $4 million this past season. According to Tarik, the Caps began contract extension negotiations back in February, but they have been dormant since then.
For a player that was on-again-off-again injury-wise, Fedorov amassed 33 points, (11g, 22a) and was a +4 on the year. He is best known for the leadership role he plays on the Caps, most notably to young Russian stars such as Alex Semin.
With Varlamov likely to be on the big club, and knowing the Caps' love of Russian hockey, re-signing Fedorov would be welcomed by most, if it's at a reasonable price
