Milan Jurcina has decided to take the Washington Capitals to an arbitration hearing rather than accept the qualifying offer the team extended to him late last month.
Jurcina led all defenders in blocked shots and hits this season.
He also had a strong post-season which should earn him a larger contract. He had the second lowest salary of all Capital defensemen, $912,000.
