With each year comes a new batch of music featured on the EA Sports video games, a collection of hard-rock and alt. rock that will be played nonstop while you lose yourself in a franchise in the Madden, NHL or FIFA games.

It's also a foretelling of what music you will hear at your stadium at almost every game, as the rights to these songs are not only shipped to the video game companies but also the NHL for its promotional videos and your local arena's pump-up soundtrack.

So to better prepare you for this season's musical selection, here's the NHL 2010 soundtrack. Get ready for a season of goals, hits and incredible saves shown to the smooth sounds of...

Alexisonfire – Young Cardinals
Cancer Bats – Deathsmarch
CKY – Hellions on Parade
Disco Ensemble – Golden Years
Drangonforce – Heroes of Our Time
Earl Greyhound – Oye Vaya
Green Day – Know Your Enemy
Metalkpretty – Wake Up! Wake Up!
Ministry & Co-Conspirators – Keys to the City (Blackhawks Theme)
MxPx – Kids in America
Nickelback – Burn It to the Ground
Papa Roach – Into the Light
Priestess – Raccoon Eyes
Rancid – The Bravest Kids
Scorpions – Rock You Like a Hurricane
Thousand Foot Krutch – Fire It Up

You can get a preview of all the songs from EA at this link.

Sorry Ovie, no Russian disco-club music this year.

The good news is you can import your own custom soundtracks so you don't have to hear Nickelback or CKY, but the bad is, well, gamers are lazy.

Nickelback? CKY? Papa Roach? Dragonforce? Green Day (editor's note: 90's Green Day was amazing, none of this modern crap) Sure is sellout city on that soundtrack.

Anyway, like or not, that's the soundtrack.

Man, this seriously sucks. But "Know Your Enemy" almost guarantees that I'll be muting it in between games.

They're always uber-heavy on the pop-punk... Can't say I'll ever be a fan. I remember the NHL 2000 soundtrack having an earworm from Gob: "I hear you calling." I still know all the words.

Some of the older NBA Live and FIFA series had great tracks. There's nothing like a Bayern Munich vs Manchester United throwdown with a little Reel Big Fish in the background.

The 2008 game featured "world music" that I thought was much more enjoyable than the usual punk-fest we get.

That you can call anything I've ever heard on the NHL series "punk" is generous. I'm not one to condemn something solely because it's considered mainstream, but when I hear people in general call Fall Out Boy and other radio-friendly crapola "punk," I really have to wonder what the hell is happening. Punk has been commercialized and destroyed. Indie is well on its way down a similar path.

The game itself looks sweet.
pretty sick soundtrack if you ask me..

Not sure what you all the fuss is about.. some amazing artists on here. Green Day & Alexisisonfire. Mainstream stuff that the kids will love like Nickleback and Paparoach... punk flair for the oldschoolers like CKY, MXPX and Rancid. And some cool new artists like Metalkpretty.

Pretty great if you ask me

This soundtrack just looks flat out terrible, but if you can upload your own, I'm quite intrigued.

The FIFA soundtrack looks sick with Matt & Kim's "Daylight" (the original... not the remix) and Peter, Bjorn, and John's "Nothing to Worry About"...but those aren't really songs that most hockey fans could get into.

Uploading a soundtrack for suurree
um. . . FCUKING AWFUL

whoever comprised this soundtrack should be fired and burned at the stake. i enjoyed every soundtrack no NHL games, but this is just fuckin pathetic. this has to be the worst soundtrack i have ever heard in my life for any video game. NHL is not known metal, it's known for alternative. i'd rather go to gaum, have my left pinky amputated, and my right spleen broken than listen to this soundtrack. i loved the 09 soundtrack, but the 10 soundtrack blows my bigshmeatlin.

The EA NHL soundtrack is something I look forward to every year. There has always been a few bands I've never heard of with awesome tracks, EA has been great for getting non-mainstream bands with amazing talent known. Just the other night I went to see Protest the Hero in concert, a band that NHL 07 introduced me to. They kicked ass BTW.

There are a few bands on here that I haven't heard of and may well spark my interest, but most of this list contains mainstream bands, and come on, Nickelback, Papa Roach and Green day? How much more commercial can you get? The fact that I know over half of these bands disappoints me greatly. EA needs to get back to their practice of putting lesser known and indie bands back on the soundtrack, rather than promote overrated mainstream fossils.
what-a-disappointment

I totally agree with pentagram. That is the weakest soundtrack ever in ea's nhl series.

Green Day LOL! why ea?
