Well, here's the only way I can put a positive spin on Alexander Ovechkin's two-game suspension:

What should the Caps be doing this time of year, with a playoff spot secured and lots of "extra" bodies? Avoiding injury and resting players.

Who is the one player they would never rest, because fans everywhere pay to see him and because he's in the thick of the race for the goals title and points title? Ovechkin.

So, a two-game suspension means:

* Two games in which Ovechkin can't get injured.

* Two games in which Ovechkin stores up energy for the playoffs.

Weak, I know.

I'd rather see him out there any day. A game with Ovie in it is a game where something spectacular may happen; a game without Ovie is . . . a game. This is coming from a guy who considers a game day good if the Caps win -- or if Ovie gets a goal, an assist or does anything at all to cement his legendary status.

Oh, the suspension means one other thing: a quarter of a million dollar loss of salary, which has to mean something to a player who lets his Mom cut his hair.
